Who Can Apply?
Candidates must be citizens of India. There is no restriction on the number of attempts as long as the candidate is within the applicable age limit.
Age relaxations are provided: 5 years for SC/ST/Category-1 candidates and 3 years for OBC (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B). Ex-servicemen and other special categories receive relaxations as per Karnataka state government rules.
Preference is given to candidates who have studied in Kannada medium and those from rural backgrounds — Kannada medium and rural certificates can provide a significant advantage during selection.

Four Stages to Join the Force
KFD selects candidates through a structured multi-stage process to ensure only the most physically fit and knowledgeable candidates are appointed.
Fitness Requirements
Physical fitness is a core requirement for all forest field positions. Candidates must meet the minimum height and endurance standards specified in the official notification. Standards differ by gender.

Salary & Benefits
Karnataka Forest Department follows the 7th Pay Commission salary structure — with stable pay, field allowances, housing, medical benefits and a government pension.

All KFD Recruitment applications are submitted online only through the official Karnataka Forest Department portal at aranya.gov.in. Applications through any other website — including this one — are not accepted and will be invalid.
The application fee is non-refundable. Pay online using debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. Print a copy of your submitted application for future reference. Keep your application / acknowledgement ID safe.

Department
The Karnataka Forest Department (KFD) is responsible for the protection, conservation and management of forests across the state of Karnataka. The department operates under the State Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology.
Karnataka is one of India’s most biodiverse states — spanning the Western Ghats, the Deccan plateau and a coastline rich with mangrove swamps and aquatic biodiversity. The state has recorded a forest area of 38,720 km², constituting 20.19% of the total geographical area.
KFD has received the Indira Priyadarshini Vana Mitra Award for outstanding afforestation work. The department runs major schemes including the Special Component Plan, Tribal Sub-Plan, Sirichandana Vana, and Roadside Plantation Scheme.
